The network of BoP Learning Labs™ grew out of the USA BoP Learning Lab™, under the direction of Dr. Stuart L. Hart. BoP Learning Labs™ are membership-based consortiums of leaders from companies, NGOs, multilateral organizations, and universities. Members work together to discover and implement win-win solutions that open new opportunities for business value creation while simultaneously expanding the development horizon of the world's poorest people and communities in ways that are culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable.

Under Hart’s guidance BoP Learning Labs™ were created in Mexico (2003), Brazil (2005), Argentina (2005), Spain (2005) and the Netherlands (2005). This growing network is active in collaborative research, consulting, case writing, executive education and other activities.

Although global in reach, each BoP Learning Lab™ is an independent entity setting its own agenda based on the needs and desires of their member organizations. Membership is organization-based and is determined by each respective Learning Lab.
